I watched a story unfold a few years ago that inspired "A Coward's Gambit". A random Joe helped save a man who was shot during a drive-by in a parking lot.
Pretty soon, thanks to the local paper and social media, the hero's name was everywhere.
Trouble was, the police hadn't caught the guy who did the shooting.
And that got me thinking.
I had a character I'd been working on who was a bit of a coward. What if he had been the first on scene?
